A 25-year-old man was shot after getting into the car outside a strip club in Mount Vernon early Saturday morning, police say.

According to authorities, the victim left the Sues Rendezvous club on Gramatan Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. As he was getting into his vehicle, a gunman approached him and fired two shots, hitting him in the chest and shoulder. The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Police officers in the area heard the shots and quickly swarmed the scene, but the gunman fled.

Police say a gun was seized from the victim's car.
