The search for a man accused of a domestic assault spanned across three Hudson Valley counties before he was apprehended.
It started Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. on Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel. That's where police got a report of a domestic assault.
Officers say the suspect fled the scene in a white U-Haul van. He is a 47-year-old New Jersey resident, according to officers with the Carmel Police Department.
Police say the suspect hit multiple cars, including some that belong to police while fleeing through Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester counties.
Eventually, he was caught in Putnam Valley.
Richard Gerber watched a lot of the ordeal unfold and was almost hit himself.
"It was scary, I was frightened someone was going to hit me because people were trying to get out of the way in their cars," says Lake Peekskill resident Richard Gerber.
No one was seriously hurt, according to police. One officer has minor injuries.
The charges the suspect is facing have not yet been released. Officers from multiple jurisdictions are still investigating what happened.
