Yonkers police say that two violent crimes happened in the downtown section of the city on Thursday.
Detectives are trying to find a man accused of shooting another man on Mill Street around 12:45 p.m.
Police say the two were fighting when it happened. They say the victim was hit two times in his upper body.
The suspect ran off as the victim was taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.
Police say then around 4:18 p.m. a woman on Prospect Street went up to another woman band hit her in the head from behind with a hammer.
In that case, police arrested the suspect. The victim was taken to the hospital with a head gash. Police expect her to be OK.
Police say the women knew each other and it seems to be a case of domestic violence.
