A 12-year-old boy is in police custody, charged with starting a fire Saturday night that swept through a home and nearby apartment building in Yonkers.
The fire started just after 10:30 p.m. at a home located at 191 Saratoga Ave. and spread to the apartment building next door.
More than 70 firefighters responded to the scene, navigating treacherous conditions to get the 20 residents to safety.
Police say the boy has been charged with second-degree arson.
They say the 12-year-old is being held in a juvenile detention facility in Valhalla awaiting a court date.
