A Mount Vernon man is accused of drunken driving in a deadly crash on the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers Monday morning.
Police say the driver lost control of his car and slammed into a support beam beneath the Seminary Avenue overpass at around 2 a.m., killing his passenger, a 44-year-old Bronx woman, and injuring himself.
The eastbound lanes of the parkway were closed for hours.
Residents say accidents are common on that stretch of road.
Police have not yet identified the 38-year-old driver. He is in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.
