About 100 high school students braved the rain and walked out of class in the middle of their school day Friday in response to the recent leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v. Wade.
Adriana Palumbo and Katie Wildey, both high school freshmen, were the organizers of the event.
They say it was a chance to inform their peers and something the teens felt strongly about.
"It's really important that women should have the right to decide what gets done to their body," says Wildey.
The superintendent said in a statement, "They built awareness among their peers about the situation at hand. In the end, they modeled how to be responsible citizens and express themselves with dignity."
