It's not only the last day of the school year at Museum School 25 in Yonkers, but the elementary school is closing for good.
The official decision was made in February to shut down at the end of this school year.
District officials say the school building needs extensive repairs and the cost isn't fiscally worth it.
According to school administrators enrollment is down, they say over the last decade they've lost more than 2,400 students in the district, and with just 220 students currently attending Museum School 25, the district simply can't afford to keep the school open.
School administrators say they've been helping parents find other schools within the district, even allowing them to visit different schools before deciding on where their children will attend classes next year.
