Four schools in Harrison were placed in a temporary lockout Tuesday morning after a report of gunshots, the Harrison Central School District says.
At 9:40 a.m., the Harrison Police Department informed the district that there was a report of gunshots near Marion Avenue in downtown Harrison.
As a precaution, the district initiated a lockout at Parsons Memorial Elementary School, Harrison Avenue Elementary School, Louis M. Klein Middle School and Harrison High School.
During a lockout, the building is locked and no one is permitted to enter the school, but the school day continues as normal within the building.
The district will send another message to inform parents when the lockout is lifted.
Police were on the scene at the home on Marion Avenue where they confirmed that bullet casings were found and a window was broken. A man was bleeding from the side of his face and taken to a hospital in WP for treatment of an apparent facial laceration. However, town officials say no one was shot.
Marion Avenue was closed while police investigated.
Officials stress there was no danger to the public nor kids during the incident.
