A plan is now in place to recover the tugboat that crashed into a construction barge Saturday, killing all three crew members on board.
Authorities say the boat, which is at the bottom of the Hudson River, is so badly damaged that emergency workers have been unable to recover the body of crew member Harry Hernandez.
The plan is to bring a 1,000-ton crane from Virginia to Westchester. The crane, which is the largest on the East Coast, is scheduled to arrive Monday. Slings will then be hooked up to the tugboat to lift it out of the Hudson Tuesday.
The Westchester police commissioner says the plan involves salvagers, surveyors, engineers, the Tappan Zee Bridge Authority, the United States Coast Guard and the Westchester County police.
