There is now relief for some Westchester parents who will not have to travel far for specialized medical care for their children.

Phelps Hospital Northwell Health in Sleepy Hollow has expanded to include the Cohen's Children's pediatric practice, which is the largest in the state.

It serves nearly 2 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and Westchester.

"It's not a one-size-fits-all care model here,” says Daniel Blum, president of Phelps Hospital. “We've increased the number of pediatrics providers and we've looked for pediatricians who have expertise in different kinds of specialties."

In the next few years, Phelps Hospital will be expanding its maternal children services, and plans to gut and rebuild its in-patient OBGYN and NICU services.
