The reconstruction of the Grand Concourse at 161st Street is complete ? almost a year ahead of schedule.

Phase one of the project included a more sturdy and efficient underpass at 161st Street, the conversion of an old parking lot into park space and the construction of new bike lanes. Many residents are pleased with the new improvements, especially since they were finished ahead of schedule.

The first phase of the project cost an estimated $10 million. The second part of the construction is still in the design phase.
