A florist is giving away free roses every Wednesday to help keep the Hudson Valley smiling.

Stephanie Walker is a florist at her mother’s shop, Pearl River Florist, and has been giving out free roses each week for the past year and a half – but there’s a catch. Those who take a rose are required to give the rose to somebody else.

Walker says she created the weekly giveaway as a way to do something positive while ensuring that excess roses in her inventory do not go to waste.

She says she enjoys doing the small gesture for others.

“Even if it’s just one person a day, that’s one person’s day you changed,” she says. “That, to me, is worth its weight in gold.”
