The Pearl River cheerleaders took home the 2016 title at the Public School Cheerleading state championships in Syracuse.
Until last year, the ladies weren't allowed to compete because New York didn't consider cheerleading a sport.
"We have five practices a week, each two hours. So it's like other sports, but the amount of mental work we put in is a lot more because we each contribute to the routine," said co-captain Madison Reynolds.
