Authorities say a White Plains parking officer has been arrested for allegedly trying to bribe a woman into performing sexual favors in order to avoid a ticket.
Officials say 61-year-old Mario Carpenito, of Thornwood, was arrested on Friday following an investigation that began on Wednesday. The incident allegedly took place at one of the parking meters on East Post Road.
A 21-year-old female claimed Carpenito had given her a parking ticket and had allegedly tried to negotiate for sexual favors. Authorities say there was enough probable cause to arrest the officer.
Carpenito has been charged with third-degree bribery and official misconduct. He was released on $1,000 bail.
He has been suspended without pay, and is due in White Plains City Court on Wednesday.
