News 12 spoke with multiple residents Friday regarding a Peekskill building's lack of heat and hot water for its eighth day.

On Jan. 9, residents of Park Place Towers, located at 1108 Brown St. in Peekskill, were notified that heat and hot water service was affected.

On Jan.12 service was restored, but not for long.

Since Jan. 22, residents say there has been no heat or hot water coming from the building.

"What I'm worried about mostly are the babies. I'm afraid they're going to get so cold they're going to have to go to the hospital to get warmed up, if they make it there," said Leslie Carole Lindsey who has resided in the building for a year.

"This is our second bedroom, which when we got the apartment we planned on this being our babies nursery...but it stays substantially colder than the rest of the apartment," said resident Bridget Schafer.

Other residents shared photos with News 12 of their thermostats from previous days, with temperatures ranging from 47 to 66 degrees.

While the issue is worked on, residents say management provided them with space heaters.

"I have had a friend that I was able to go over to her apartment and take a hot shower, but again with timing, I can't do that every day. so, I have not showered in the last five days," said resident Sabina Flagg.

A building spokesperson blames the issue on new boiler equipment which "should not have failed"...which has resulted in crews working around the clock to repair the new unit.

As of late Friday afternoon, the spokesperson says heat and hot water has been restored.

When asked to confirm, some residents told News 12 they still do not have service.
