Parents of a group of a elementary school students attended a meeting Monday about a musician infected with anthrax who performed at the school just days before becoming seriously ill.
This meeting was the first time parents had a chance to talk with school and health officials about their concerns regarding their children. Doctors told parents not to worry. The performer, Diamonde, reportedly contracted anthrax through animal skins he imported from Africa to make his drums.
David Seigler, one of the medical experts at the meeting, told parents that the drums were disinfected by the time they were used in the performance. He added that the Centers for Disease Control tested the drums and found no spores.
