A northern Westchester school district is facing allegations that school officials stood by as a young girl was bullied to the point where she attempted suicide.

The repeated bullying allegedly happened to a 13-year-old student at the H.C. Crittenden Middle School in Armonk.

The child's mother, Lauren Milton, has moved her child to a private school, but has filed a civil lawsuit against the Byram Hills School District.

She says some of the online and face-to-face comments to her daughter were to kill herself, to drink bleach, that she looked like a monster and that no one likes her.

Every insult is listed in a civil lawsuit against the district, which alleges that school officials knowingly did nothing as the harassment continued for nine months from 2014 to 2015.

In the 16-page complaint, it is alleged that some students went as far as breaking into her locker and ripping her books and papers. Another student apparently pushed her off of a stool and injured her leg. It's even alleged that some students went to her home and threw rocks at her windows.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent William Donohue wrote, "I want you to know that the district intends to defend the allegations rigorously. More importantly, I want to express my confidence in the staff members who were named and assure you that you need not lose confidence in their work on behalf of your children."

News 12 reached out to the family's attorney, but has not heard back yet.
