New York's restaurants are taking an economic hit far worse than the national average due to the pandemic.
That's according to The State's Restaurant Association.
The industry group estimates 1 in 6 restaurants nationwide have already closed, including more than 8,300 statewide, with some 4,500 in New York City alone.
Fifty-four percent of the state's restaurants said they would likely not survive the next six months without federal relief compared to the 37% of restaurants nationwide.
The association is now calling for a federal relief package to help save these businesses and keep people employed.
