Police say an overturned tractor-trailer on I-287 caused a major traffic backup that stretched into Connecticut Wednesday morning.
Authorities say Marcus Delcatari, 55, was coming off the exit ramp from I-95 when his cargo of wet leaves shifted its weight in the back of his truck. The trailer overturned westbound on I-287 in Port Chester, spilling leaves onto the road and causing a major traffic jam.
?The aluminum trailers are lighter, so when you have a heavy load inside, it can cause it to roll over," says Sgt. William Collins.
The accident has been cleared and traffic can now progress through all lanes. Delcatari suffered a broken leg and was taken to Westchester Medical Center. No tickets are expected to be issued.
