More than 150 people in the Hudson Valley spent New Year’s Day jumping into freezing water.
The fearless swimmers were all part of the 17th annual Ray's Polar Bear Plunge at Oakland Beach in Rye.
The plunge supports families of people living with ALS and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
The event's founder says he started the plunge to keep his sister's legacy alive.
Among the 150 participants were 30 newbies who jumped in for the first time.
