The Ossining School District has implemented a new safety measure in an effort to protect its students at a time when school shootings are gripping the nation.
The district installed blue strobe lights that will alert anyone outside of a potential threat inside. Raymond Sanchez, superintendent of the Ossining School District, says the lights were installed on the exterior of all the buildings districtwide.
Sanchez says there are also plans to place the lights in noisy areas such as the gym and cafeteria.
The way it works is when administrators press a button inside the building the lights will go on, sound an alarm and connect directly to the police.
Parents applaud the measure, saying they are happy officials are doing more to add security.
