An Ossining man is accused of posing as a licensed dentist and treating immigrants without insurance in his apartment.
Police say 40-year-old Alfonso Ruiz-Molina claims he was a dental technician in Ecuador, but investigators say he wasn't a licensed dentist in the U.S. Police say they seized tools, including a hammer and crazy glue, from Ruiz-Molina?s illegal and unsanitary spare bedroom office. Detectives say they didn?t find anything used to sanitize the instruments in the apartment.
Police say Ruiz-Molina had about 60 patients, all illegal immigrants, who paid in cash because they didn't have insurance. Investigators made the discovery after a fire in a Laundromat on the first floor. Firefighters say when they were checking the apartments, the Ruiz-Molina family refused to open the door, so they busted in. Ruiz-Molina was arrested and is being held at Westchester County Jail.
