An Orange County man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Orange County Thursday morning.
Police say a white SUV driven by Robert Pascoe, 54, of Port Jervis, hit the back of a New York State Department of Transportation truck just after 9 a.m. on I-84 in Wawayanda.
After hitting the truck, the SUV flipped over and landed in a ditch, killing Pascoe.
The NYSDOT truck was parked on the side of the highway for the removal of a dead deer from the scene. Two NYSDOT workers were inside the truck while one worker was outside the truck when it was hit by the SUV. The NYSDOT workers suffered minor injuries.
Police say it's not clear how fast Pascoe was going when he crashed. The speed limit there is 65 mph. Investigators are also looking into other contributing factors, including if Pascoe was driving while using a cellphone.
