Orange County first responders were recognized for their help during the fatal rollover bus crash in September.
Farmingdale School District Superintendent Paul Defendini expressed gratitude to approximately 100 first responders at the Orange County Emergency Services Center on Wednesday.
Their dedication during the I-84 accident in Wawayanda was acknowledged and appreciated.
The crash resulted in 45 injuries and the deaths of the school's band director and an adult chaperone. Multiple students were transported to nearby medical facilities.
Defendini personally thanked each responder and presented handwritten letters from the Farmingdale community, recognizing their heroic efforts during this tragic event.
