A licensed direct support professional employed by a New York non-profit organization for people with developmental disabilities is accused of trafficking narcotics in New York and Pennsylvania.
Port Jervis police say a three-month, joint investigation with the Pike County District Attorney’s Office and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office resulted in the arrest of Elveus Beauchard, 42, of Dingman Township, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 1.
Authorities say a search warrant executed at Beauchard’s residence led to the discovery of 17 grams of crack-cocaine mixed with fentanyl, three digital scales, packaging materials and $4,800 in U.S. currency.
Beauchard is employed as a direct support professional at the New York Foundilng Facility, according to authorities, which assisted in the investigation.
News 12 reached out to the New York Foundling for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
“The defendant ran an operation, the type of which we are very familiar with,” said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden. “People who choose to profit from selling deadly, highly addictive drugs in the City of Port Jervis should know that will be identified and investigated, regardless of the geographical areas in which they operate.”
Beauchard is charged in New York with criminal possession of a controlled substance and is being held in Orange County Jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, where authorities say the defendant is charged with two additional drug-related felonies.
