A popular police chief is once again fighting against his former boss to keep his job.
As News 12 has reported, former Highland Falls Mayor Patrick Flynn suspended Police Chief Ken Scott last year after a dispute on how the police department should be run.
Scott later agreed to step down under a settlement that allowed him to stay on the books long enough to be eligible for retirement. However, Scott was rehired right after Highland Falls’ new mayor was voted in this past March.
"The people voted them in during the March election and they did what they said they were going to do," says Scott’s attorney, Rory Brady.
Chief Scott was rehired in a 3-2 vote by the Highland Falls Village Board. One of the board members who voted in favor was Scott's brother-in-law, something Flynn's attorney says was a conflict of interest.
