Officials say a man is dead after a raft capsized during a fishing trip at the Croton Falls Reservoir in northern Westchester Tuesday afternoon.
Officials say that two men were thrown into the water after the raft capsized at around 3 p.m. off Croton Falls Road.
When officials arrived on the scene, one man was in the water at the shoreline.
The other victim was still in the water. He was found in between 12 and 13 feet of water off the banks of the lake. Reports say he had been under the water for over an hour.
Rescue crews immediately began CPR on the man, but police say it was too late.
The other man was taken to Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel in an unknown condition.
Investigators say the two men were not wearing life preservers. Their identities have not yet been released.
The Department of Environmental Protection, which oversees the reservoir, continues to investigate the incident. Fishing is permitted in reservoirs and investigators say the pair had the proper permits.
