Officials looked to calm fears Monday evening about a plan to reappraise properties across Yonkers.
"Reassessment is what we call a zero-sum game," said Lee Kyriacou, executive director of the state's Office of Real Property Services. "It's more about leveling your property taxes."
Kyriacou and city officials said home and business owners should be aware that the first citywide property reassessment in 50 years won't raise everyone's property taxes. According to the officials, approximately 33 percent of property owners would see their taxes go down.
