Officials: Homeowners who prepaid taxes should expect another bill
Thousands of Westchester residents who rushed to prepay their 2018 taxes at the end of last year may not know that they are still getting a tax bill, and it may be for more taxes than they paid.
In Bedford, Town Supervisor Chris Burdick says more than 1,100 homeowners prepaid their taxes.

“We collected $11 million in that provisional tax for county and town, which for our town is unprecedented, broke all records,” says Burdick.
As many homeowners from communities like Bedford to Yorktown and Lewisboro will soon learn, that prepayment didn't clear them of their total 2018 obligations.  What wasn’t included in the prepayment were the tax increases levied by the county and their local municipalities for this year. Town officials say they want to be clear: Homeowners should expect another bill headed their way.

“They have to presume that they will have to pay more. Of course, it’s a whole lot less than they would otherwise have to pay, but there will be a supplemental tax bill based on that supplemental tax warrant,” says Burdick.

The complete tax bills will be mailed out in March and are due back in April.
