The city is spraying local parks to prevent the spread of germs and diseases carried by mosquitoes this season.
Crews sprayed last year when the city reported one Bronx resident did come down with the West Nile virus. This season, the city is trying to be proactive and keep mosquitoes at bay by spraying parks all around the borough.
Standing pools of water and wooded areas are hot spots for mosquitoes to breed and live, and resident Rosie Palazzo says she takes precautions when her son plays outside. ?I actually put longer clothing on him,? she says.
While the city says people over the age of 50 are at the greatest risk of becoming seriously sick, everyone is susceptible.
