Federal authorities have charged a Nyack smoke shop owner with selling synthetic marijuana.
Andrew Grogran is the owner of the Liquid Glass Shop on South Broadway. He was first hit with a lawsuit over the alleged sale of the substance, marketed as K2 or Spice, but is now facing criminal charges.
The charges come as part of a crackdown targeting business like Liquid Glass that allegedly sell the drug.
Christopher Goldrick, of the Rockland County District Attorney's Office, has been working with the Drug Enforcement Agency for months in the investigation.
The DEA has been working with law enforcement agencies throughout the country in an effort called Project Synergy 3 that has resulted in 151 arrests in 16 states.
Officials have said that synthetic marijuana is more dangerous than real marijuana because it can result in seizures and psychological damage.
