A former college student is facing dozens of charges after being accused of secretly recording people inside dormitory bathrooms at Wesleyan University in Middletown, police said.

Samuel Schumann, 19, also known as Samuel “VuVu,” of Brooklyn, was arrested April 6 after police obtained a warrant charging him with 31 counts of voyeurism under Connecticut law.

The charges stem from multiple incidents that occurred between September and October 2025 inside dormitories on the Wesleyan campus, where Schumann was a student at the time.

Investigators said 19 female victims were identified, most of whom were students, and were secretly recorded inside campus bathrooms.

University officials contacted police once the incidents came to light and cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives with the Middletown Police Special Investigations Unit conducted the case and worked for about two months to locate Schumann.

Police said they coordinated his voluntary surrender following the issuance of the arrest warrant.

Schumann was processed and released after posting a $100,000 surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court April 7.
