A Maryknoll sister who has primary lateral sclerosis, a degenerative condition that targets voluntary muscles, will meet the pope during his visit this week.
Sister Noel Divine will get her wish and see the Holy Father at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York Thursday evening.
She will sit in the front row as the pontiff leads Mass.
The nun lost her ability to speak due to her condition. After hearing the news, she wrote on her digital pad "I am on Cloud Nine."
When asked what she would like to say to the pope when she meets him, she wrote, "Keep your light shining in the dark of our world."
The Maryknoll Sisters were the first religious order of Catholic women founded in the United States for overseas missionary work.
