Anthony Fiore, of Stony Point, is proving that age is just a number as he continues to pursue boxing championships while encouraging others to stay resilient through life.

News 12 caught the 47-year-old health and wellness coach training at Powerhouse in Nanuet as he is preparing for his next fight and life.

"Life gets a little tough. You have to fight something. Boxing helps you fight everything. You keep fighting. You don't stop. You don't give up," Fiore said.

Fiore has been boxing since he was 11 years old and says he has no plans to step away from the ring anytime soon.

He believes age should not be a barrier for anyone to pursue the sport.

"To do it when you're getting older, well age is just a number. It don't mean nothing. There's no reason you can't do it at 40, 50, and there's men that do it into their 60s too. There ain't no stopping," Fiore said.

His first fight came in 2008 when he was 29 years old and he won by knockout.

Now competing in USA Boxing Metro events, Fiore is coming off a National Masters Heavyweight Championship victory in May at the legendary Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn. He is preparing to return to the ring next month for an international tournament at the same venue.

Beyond competition, Fiore hopes his determination in the ring serves as a lesson for others in life.

"Don't stop doing any movement. Don't stop punching. Don't stop fighting. Don't give up," Fiore said.
