There were no injuries Friday morning after an Amtrak train carrying 173 passengers struck a car in Hyde Park.
The incident occurred at River Point Road just before 10 a.m.
State police say the southbound train plowed into an Acura that became stuck on the tracks. Amtrak officials say the crossing gates were working at the time.
Investigators did not comment on why the vehicle was on the tracks.
Police gave the driver of the car, 39-year-old Sean Pesano, of Lagrange, a traffic ticket for aggravated unlicensed operation.
Last month, a northbound Metro-North train slammed into a disabled car at a Bedford Hills railroad crossing, resulting in no injuries. Last year, six people were killed when a train struck a car at a Valhalla crossing.
The state Senate has passed legislation that would require the Department of Transportation to conduct a comprehensive statewide study of all grade-level rail crossings. It now heads to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's desk to be signed.
