A three-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer returned to his roots in White Plains Friday.
Art Monk presented his alma mater, White Plains High School, with a golden football from the NFL celebrating the league's 50th year of the Super Bowl.
Monk won three Super Bowls with the Washington Redskins.
Players on the current White Plains Tigers football team were among those who packed the school's Media Center to welcome the hometown hero and member of the class of 1976.
"To know that someone who had such an impact in the NFL came here, still supports our program, it's really big and inspirational for the players," said football player Les Vaccaro.
Monk is already a member of the White Plains High School Hall of Fame but next week, he will be one of 15 people inducted into the school's newly established Sports Hall of Fame.
