New York State Trooper Nicholas Abbondola remains hospitalized in stable condition after being struck by a pickup truck driven by an alleged drunk driver on the Thruway.

The incident occurred while Trooper Abbondola was standing outside his cruiser on the shoulder.

Trooper Abbondola, from Mahopac, sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures.

Jason Guerin was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including DWI.
