A New Square rescue team searching the Hudson River for a missing man got a lucky break on Tuesday, but not the one they were expecting.
New Square's Emergency Services have been trying to find 46-year-old David Ahronowitz. Ahronowitz has been presumed dead after surveillance video showed him trying to commit suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge Friday.
While trying to find his body on Tuesday, the rescue team spotted a young woman in her 20s, who had also thrown herself off the bridge and plummeted hundreds of feet into the water.
The woman was conscious, but suffered a severe leg injury in the fall.
Officials say she's the only survivor of the four people who've jumped this year and the 18 who jumped last year.
The team is still searching for Ahronowitz's body.
