Students in New Rochelle are ringing in the new week by saying "hello."
The so-called Hello Week at Isaac Young Middle School helps students spread positivity and school spirit.
The event follows violent assaults and a fatal stabbing involving New Rochelle students.
Despite the string of violence, teachers say their students are resilient.
Throughout the week, peers will encourage one another by placing uplifting messages on classmates' lockers - each one filled with optimistic expectations.
"Now that we're doing these types of events, we may be seeing just a little bit of hope to the school,” says student Tacio Dacoscalima.
