The city of New Rochelle celebrated its growing Hispanic population Saturday with a street fair that showcased over 40 Hispanic-owned local businesses.
City officials also launched the new Hispanic-American Advisory Committee, a board meant to help the community’s Hispanic business owners.
"The Hispanic Advisory Board is that bridge that makes them connect, helps them integrate into the community and celebrate the richness of the Latino community," says District 1 Councilwoman Martha Lopez.
Organizers said they plan on making the festival a yearly event.
