News 12 has learned new information about the cases surrounding three murders this month in Spring Valley.
Alan Abad, who identifies as Alina, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Rockland County Court on an indictment charging him with first- and second-degree murder.
The 19-year-old, from Westwood New Jersey, is accused of beating his aunts to death - Evelyn Aguilar-Agustin and Anabelly Aguilar - to stop them from calling police inside their Gesner Drive apartment earlier this month.
In court, Abad's public defender asked Judge Kevin Russo to limit the amount of information law enforcement agencies share with the press in order for there to be an unbiased jury. Judge Russo did not rule on that yet.
"The people will oppose that application in most part because we think it's most important that the people of Rockland County have transparency into our criminal justice system," said Rockland District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
Abad was remanded to jail without bail after the arraignment.
Meanwhile, a memorial set up outside an abandoned building on Centre Street identifies the man found dead there last week as "Santos Benedicto Ramirez."
Now, a second man has been arrested and charged with beating him to death with a piece of wood.
Ector Ramirez, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder, the same charge faced by 26-year-old Christian Guzman-Loera.
Both men are being held in the county jail.
