A new agency is targeting everything from illegal housing conditions to counterfeiting operations in the Bronx and the rest of the city. The Mayor's Office of Special Enforcement (OSE) will focus on apartment buildings illegally made into hotels, counterfeiting businesses and adult-oriented businesses. Mayor Bloomberg (R-NYC) said the agency will also be aggressive in cracking down on film piracy.The agency expands the responsibilities of the Office of Midtown Enforcement. The office has focused on quality of life issues in midtown Manhattan for the last 30 years.The Bloomberg administration's crackdown on counterfeit items has resulted in the seizure of goods worth more than $50 million.
