Eleven people were displaced after an apartment fire in Yonkers.
Firefighters arrived to the scene of the one-alarm fire just before 3 p.m. Sunday.
Tenants say they lost everything and are especially upset for the five children who have been left homeless during the holidays.
"I feel bad, so bad for them, they have kids and its Christmas," says Debra, a tenant of the building. "But we are all OK and that is the most important."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but fire officials suspect it was due to an overcrowded electrical outlet. Yonkers Fire Chief Chris Maher says that electrical fires are more common during the winter because people are using extension cords and putting too many outlets into one receptacle.
No injuries were reported.
The Red Cross told News 12 they are working with the tenants that were displaced by the fire.
