Police: Pedestrian fatally struck by FedEx truck on LIE in Jericho

According to police, the truck operated by a 28-year-old male was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the LIE when it struck a 33-year-old male pedestrian between Exits 40W and 40E.

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a FedEx truck Sunday afternoon on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho, police say.
According to police, the truck, operated by a 28-year-old man, was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the LIE when it struck a 33-year-old male pedestrian between Exits 40W and 40E.
The pedestrian has been identified as Bryan Mejia, of Bethpage. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police Department medic.
No other injuries were reported and the operator remained at the scene.
In a statement, a communications advisor for FedEx tells News 12, "We are aware of the incident and are cooperating with local police in their investigation."
The LIE was closed for about 6 hours Sunday.
