A multi-vehicle accident sent five people to the hospital today in Rockland County.
Police say the accident occurred in front of the Palisades Mall on Route 303 in West Nyack around 11:30 a.m. They say a tractor-trailer passed a red light and collided with a garbage truck and an SUV.
The tractor-trailer's side saddle fuel tank ruptured spilling approximately 20 to 30 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway. Route 303 northbound was closed down as Hazmat crews rushed to the scene to clean up the fuel spill.
Five people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
