The MTA is rolling out a new public awareness campaign in an effort to reduce injuries and deaths at railroad crossings.

The measure comes on the heels of multiple train crashes, including one in Valhalla in February that killed six people.

The new partnership announced Wednesday between the Metropolitan Transit Authority and Operation Lifesaver will raise awareness by providing public service announcements on TV and in movie theaters across the tri-state area. The ads will seek to educate the public on how to safely navigate rail crossings.

The safety campaign also includes installing new signage, which has already been completed at the Roaring Brook Road crossing in Chappaqua.
