A new mural unveiled Thursday in Mount Vernon aims to inspire children in the community.
The "Big Me" mural project is located at the corner of South Fourth Avenue and Second Street.
“You need to know Mount Vernon is with you every step of the way,” says Mayor Richard Thomas, in support of the community-based initiative. “And so as you walk these streets, there is a ‘big me’ and that ‘big me’ is you.”
The mural’s creator Sean Flanagan is an art teacher at Amani Public Charter School.
He tells News 12 he created the mural as a way to brighten the community and positively impact the residents, and particularly the children, who may be passing by.
