Officials in Mount Vernon announced Thursday a plan that will aid in the repair and improvement of a sewage problem.
City Council members along with the mayor and comptroller say the Department of Public Works will be getting two new trucks thanks to funding from a reserve fund.
The first truck is equipped with a camera to peer into thousands of miles of sewage pipes from around the city. The second truck is a freightliner that will be used to clean up the mess of sewage that is sometimes seeping into the Hutchinson River.
Officials also unveiled a plan to pave main roads before the winter season begins.
Residents say they are happy to hear about the paving because there are many potholes throughout Mount Vernon.
