Mount Vernon teaches kids about the Black Lives Matter movement
Young Hudson Valley residents learned about the Black Lives Matter movement this weekend.
The city of Mount Vernon hosted 'The Children's Rally- Young Black Lives Matter' at Brush Park.
The kids got the opportunity to make their own Black Lives Matter mural, posters and signs.
Teens helping out say they are happy to see events like this in their community. "Seeing something like this is very moving towards our actions, because if we don't act at the moment, we won't be heard," says Zuri Jackson.
"I'm very happy to see a bunch of people out here doing something, inspiring other people to help out in little ways that could make a bigger difference," adds Layla Jackson.
They were also taught about chanting positive messages as a way to inspire others.
