There is plenty of excitement, but also some complaints heading into this weekend's homecoming football game at Mount Vernon's new Memorial Field.
Residents have complained about the $5 admission fee that is now required.
Officials point out that basketball games currently require admission, and that visiting attendees must also pay.
"I think Mount Vernon definitely needs to generate income," said Ofelia Barrios, Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon police benevolent officials have complained about the use of city police officers for stadium security, which union officials had believed was only supposed to last for the first game of the season. They say this time around, shift and schedule changes had to be made with only a few days' notice.
This weekend’s game will take place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Arlington High School.
